Inspiration.
A couple years ago, my best friend Esther and I decided to go on a diet. We worked out and tried to diet, but I didn’t really have a real diet plan or an idea of how to eat healthy to lose weight. We did okay for a while but then Esther got sick and lost weight just by being sick (I didn’t think that was fair, ha ha). Anyway, we just quit after a few weeks and I only lost about 5 pounds and we both ended up gaining everything back. Well, now that Esther has seen my progress she wants to start again. She said she’s inspired by me to begin again. We have a bet going and I think I’m going to win! We’ve started working out again and I’m teaching her what I’ve learned about eating the right way. I’m really excited to have a partner now and she’s excited too. We have a membership at the same gym and I think this is going to be really fun!
July 12, 2010 - pounds lost: 17
People are noticing. An exciting part of losing weight is when people compliment me on how I look. It makes me want to keep going. Yesterday, I was at a friend’s house and her mom took a look at me and squealed “Melanie! Oh, my gosh! You look great!”. Last week I was at the grocery store and saw someone I know and got the same type of reaction. It feels good that people are noticing my progress.
I’m still really loving the food. I don’t know how they make everything taste so good and still be low calorie. One of my friends saw my bag and was like, “Wow, that’s diet food?” I never considered myself a seafood fan, but have really liked all the fish and shrimp dishes. I like trying new things now more and still have my favorites like the coconut bars. I get excited when I get one, they taste like dessert. Almost like cheesecake!

I got a gym membership. I haven’t been to gym in a long time and I’m feeling energetic enough to get in and start a work out plan. I used to be embarrassed to go to the gym because I thought everyone looked perfect and would judge me. Now, I don’t’ care what anyone thinks because I feel so good about myself. I got two free personal training sessions with my membership. I told the trainer about and the Zone meals I’m getting. He said that it is perfect for what I am doing and my weight loss goals. He told me that eating throughout the day is best—just like they told me at Chef by Request.
Sometimes I get too busy during the day, to eat lunch and snack, but now I just take my bag with me in between seeing my different clients. I work as a nursing assistant and visit elderly clients during the day. I don’t know why I didn’t think about if before because the cooler bag had ice blocks and keeps the food fresh.

Yah! I can finally fit back in to my designer jeans! I never wanted to throw them away because they were expensive, and I’m so glad I didn’t! All my clothes look better on me and I am starting to have more options in my closet because I feel more comfortable in my own skin. About a year ago, I gave a friend of mine another pair of jeans because they no longer fit. She’s gained weight (sorry!) and gave them back to me and now I can wear those too!

I love this food system. I have already lost 12 lbs.
I have been more motivated than ever and even have been working out to see what my results will be. The best part about it, is I am never hungry. I like how there is meat or fish incorporated into almost every meal too. That’s the good stuff! The food fills you up and it tasted amazing!
My favorites are the stuffed French toast, hummus dip, baked sole, tofu curry salad, and yummy eggs Benedict! The snack bars are really helpful sometimes when I am not so hungry when I wake up I will start with my snack bar first before eating the breakfast. It gives me a good boost. I might save a few bites for later just in case. I have only been drinking water and cut out all other beverages because I don’t want the extra calories and drinking all this water feels great! I cannot wait to see how much weight I lose this summer!
